What comes to mind when you think about Australia? BBQs? Surfing? Ayers Rock? Kangaroos? There’s clearly a lot of unique things to
associate with this country, which is why it’s so puzzling that so few casinos have gone with such a strong theme. GDay Casino runs
with this Australian theme and states that it “aims to be the most enjoyable premium online casino site you've ever come across” –
a bold statement, and one that Ugambling was keen to out to the test:
So, we’ve already established that there’s a lot of source material available for an Australian-themed casino, and GDay Casino seems to have decided to use the Kangaroo. Honestly, we would love to be able to joke about the theming or inappropriate use of some elements, but it somehow all seems to it together in a tasteful manner that seems fitting for an online casino. The background image of a warm sunset in the outback is easy on the eyes, the logo is recognisable without being over-the-top, and things like labelling the slots as “Pokies” is a nice touch, too. The only real fault Ugambling could see was the woman on the live dealer banner, whose hat has clearly been photoshopped in place.
Turning to more serious matters, the header and main navigation bar is nicely proportioned so as not to take-up too much space, while the games categories are also positioned nicely to the upper-left of the screen. Some of the nice theming is lost when viewed on a mobile phone/tablet, however; this online casino is still very usable, with little of the functionality being lost in the transition from pc to mobile.
Players looking to have a good days’ gaming with GDay Casino will not be disappointed. There is a very good selection of Pokies (slots), backed-up by a smaller selection of classic casino and live dealer games. Despite what the poorly photoshopped image in the lobby may suggest; we did not encounter any live dealers wearing a bush hat, which was slightly disappointing, although understandable.
Navigation through the many games is made as easy as possible through a generous number of categories to filter by, a search box as well as a filter for games providers. It’s very clear from the category filter that slots are the main attraction in GDay Casino, as there are 4 categories of them to search through – New Games, Bonzer Pokies, Pokies, Jackpot Pokies. For those players who are not familiar with Australian colloquialisms; these translate as New Games, Good Slots, Slots, and Jackpot Slots.
Speaking of the “New Games” category – the list of new games seems to be very generous and is updated on a regular basis. At the time of writing, we were able to find the very latest slots from both Microgaming and Next Gen, while there was also a lot of games from the likes of NetEnt, Evolution Gaming, and Nyx. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, Ugambling was unable to find any Australian-themed slots, despite a couple being available from Rival and Microgaming – GDay Casino have missed a trick, there.
Deposit and withdrawal methods in GDay Casino are typical of what one would expect to find. Credit/debit cards, Skrill, Neteller, PaySafe Card, and DotPay are all available to players, providing a good selection of safe & secure methods for everyone’s taste. There is a minimum deposit value of £/€10 and a minimum withdrawal value of £/€20, which is perfectly acceptable to us.
Accounts must be verified within 72 hours of depositing, otherwise they may be suspended, and withdrawals are not permitted until verification checks have been satisfied. We found that are account was fully-verified within 24 hours of submitting the required information, so there is no need to worry in that respect.
A live chat service is advertised by GDay Casino, although Ugambling did not find anyone living at the other end when we clicked on the “Chat Now” button. Despite a message saying that we would be served within a minute, no customer support agents ever materialised, leading us to believe that we had perhaps tried to contact them outside of office hours. The website says that the service is available 24/7 but we have been unsuccessful in verifying this – perhaps there are real-life Australians at the end of the live chat service, who are only available during Australian working hours? We can only speculate…
Live chat (or lack of it) aside; we were unable to locate any evidence of a contact telephone number but the support email address was clearly advertised for those keen to get in touch with the casino. All our emails were responded to within 24 hours, so we’re happy to say that support at this online casino was perfectly adequate – a working live chat would have been a bonus.
We will be very up-front, here, and say that GDay Casino offers what, on the face of it, appears to be a very generous welcome promotion to players – more so than many other online casinos. Players should be aware that the wagering requirements attached to this promotion effectively mean that they will have to wager the value of a mid-sized family home before they are able to make a withdrawal on any winnings made from bonus money – assuming the maximum bonus value is claimed.
As always; Ugambling advises players to stay well-clear of such casino bonuses and the simply play with their own money. Gaming is always more fun when it is done without restrictive terms & conditions that are regularly attached to bonus offers.
At the time of writing, there were several additional promotions available to returning players – none of which seemed to have any Australian theme to them. We shall not go into too much detail here, as such offers tend to come and go on a regular basis, but it does mean that players who are looing primarily for free gaming funds, and aren’t fussed about being able to withdrawer winnings, will find enough reasons to return to GDay Casino.
Unfortunately, in the context of GDay Casino at least; there is no gaming license issued for Australia yet. This probably comes as a bit of a disappointment for a casino which is themed around the country, although will be of no concern for players located in much of the rest of the world, who can find assurance in the UK Gambling Commission and Malta Gaming Authority licenses held by this online casino. Perhaps the whole Australian theme is a little patronising to Australians, anyway, so they’d rather play elsewhere?
Anyway, back to the licenses that GDay Casino does hold; both the UK Gambling Commission and Malta Gaming Authority licenses are among the most respected in the world and are a strong identifier that a casino is safe, fair, and reputable. A real plus point for GDay Casino.
Look past the bonus gimmicks, and what Ugambling found was a very well presented online casino, with a “bonzer” selection of games. The branding, the navigation, and the gaming licenses – there’s a lot to like about GDay Casino. “The most enjoyable premium online casino site you've ever come across”? While we’re not 100% sure it hits those heady heights, GDay Casino sure comes close.
